I want to be straight with you before you read a single word of this.
This isn't a feel-good motivational PDF full of quotes and generic advice you've already heard a hundred times.
This is what actually worked for me after my world fell apart.
The real stuff. The uncomfortable stuff.
The stuff nobody was telling me when I was lying awake at 3am replaying everything in my head and wondering how the hell I ended up there.
If you're going through a breakup or divorce right now, or you're still carrying the weight of one that happened a while back and you just can't seem to shake it, this was written for you.
I know what it feels like to lose yourself completely in a relationship and then have no idea who you are when it's gone.
I know what it feels like to have your gut tell you something is wrong for over a year and ignore it anyway because the truth was too painful to face.
And I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom and genuinely not know if there's a way back.
There is. I promise you that.
But the way back isn't what most people think it is.
It's not time. It's not dating someone new right away. It's not staying busy so you don't have to think about it.
It's these 6 shifts.
Let me tell you how I found them.
Five days after our wedding anniversary, my wife of 3 years who I was with for 9 years told me she wanted a break.
I had just bought her a surprise trip to Puerto Rico as an anniversary gift.
Five days later she wanted a break (so the trip never happened).
I agreed to the break like an idiot, spent a month confused and alone, and then we met up and she told me she wanted a divorce.
I went home that night feeling like the floor had been ripped out from under me.
No sleep. Dark thoughts. My brain running in circles trying to make sense of something that made no sense.
What did I do wrong? I supported her. I was ready to spend my life making her happy.
Why after almost a decade? Where did I drop the ball?
The questions kept coming and none of them had answers.
Then the next morning I got a message from a woman I didn't know.
She sent me these screenshots.
Conversations between my wife and her husband.
"I love you" messages going back over a year.

My stomach dropped. My hands were shaking. I hadn't slept and now this.
She had been cheating on me for over a year.
And the gut punch didn't stop there.
A few months later I found out she ended up with a friend of mine I knew for 20 years.
The same one I had been confiding in while my marriage was falling apart.
Here's the thing though.
As sick as it made me feel in that moment, something else happened too.
Something woke up.
Because deep down I already knew. My gut had been telling me for over a year that something was wrong.
I ignored it every single time because I was afraid of the truth.
I kept asking her, she kept denying it, and I kept believing her because it was easier than facing reality.
Getting that proof didn't just hurt me. It woke me up.
I realized I had been lying to myself for a long time. I had lost myself somewhere in that relationship.
I had made her my whole world and forgotten who I was outside of it.
And now that it was gone I had no idea who I was or what I was supposed to do next.
Sound familiar?
That feeling of being completely lost, not just heartbroken but genuinely not knowing who you are anymore, that's what this guide is about.
Because what happened next changed everything for me.
And it can do the same for you.

Within 8 weeks of hitting that rock bottom, I lost 45 pounds & I was in the best shape of my life.
More importantly, my mindset had completely shifted.
And I was dating again, meeting incredible women, and waking up every morning actually excited about my life.

This didn't all happen because the pain magically disappeared overnight.
It happened because I made these 6 shifts.
So let's get into them.
This one was the hardest for me to accept, and I think it'll be hard for you too.
Because when you've been cheated on or left, the last thing you want to do is look in the mirror and ask yourself where YOU dropped the ball.
It feels like letting her off the hook. It feels like admitting defeat.
But here's what I had to learn the hard way.
Taking accountability for your part doesn't mean what she did was okay. It doesn't excuse the cheating. It doesn't mean the breakup was your fault.
It means you're mature enough to ask yourself what you can learn from this so you don't repeat the same patterns in the next relationship.
For me, I had to own the fact that I got complacent. I stopped being the man she fell for.
I let myself go physically. I got negative and grumpy from work stress and brought that energy home every night.
I stopped leading. I stopped dating her. I got comfortable, and that combination killed the attraction slowly over time.
Did that make her cheating okay? Absolutely not.
But if I walked away from that marriage pointing every finger at her and taking zero responsibility for my 50%, I would have just repeated the same mistakes with the next woman.
The guys who get bitter instead of better after a breakup are the guys who refuse to look in the mirror.
They blame her, they blame women in general, they blame the dating market, and they stay stuck in the same place for years (like I used to).
The guys who bounce back are the guys who own their part, learn from it, and use it as fuel to become better.
Being wrong doesn't make you weak. It makes you stronger if you let it.
So ask yourself honestly: where did you drop the ball?
Not to beat yourself up. Just to learn. Just to grow. Just so the next version of you doesn't make the same mistakes.
Take 100% accountability for your 50% in the situation.
When everything falls apart, it feels like you have no control over anything.
You can't control what she did. You can't control whether she comes back.
You can't control what people think or say. There’s just a whole lot you can’t control.
But here's what nobody told me when I was in the middle of it.
You have complete control over the one thing that determines everything else. Your mind.
The way you think about what happened. The stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you deserve.
The thoughts you choose to entertain and the ones you choose to let pass.
Your thinking is a habit. Just like going to the gym is a habit. Just like eating well is a habit.
And just like any habit, it can be changed with the right approach and enough repetition.
When I was at my lowest I was a depressed hamster on a wheel of negative thoughts. The same thoughts running in circles, over and over, all day and all night.
"What did I do wrong? Why did she do this? Will I ever find someone again? I'll never find anyone like her. Am I enough?".
I didn't know it at the time but I was training my brain to think that way.
Every time I entertained those thoughts I was reinforcing the neural pathways that made them stronger.
The shift happened when I started catching myself.
Not trying to force positivity, not pretending everything was fine, just catching the thought in the moment and asking myself one question.
Can I control this?
If the answer is no, let it go. If the answer is yes, do something about it.
That one question changed everything for me.
Your brain is a muscle. You can train it to work for you instead of against you.
It takes practice and it takes consistency but it is absolutely a learnable skill.
Learn to control your mind, and you will control your life.
Here's something that's hard to hear but I need you to sit with it.
That feeling of being stuck, lost, hopeless, like there's no way out of the pain you're in right now?
You built that mental prison, and only you can unlock it.
I don't say that to be harsh. I say it because it's actually the most empowering thing I ever learned.
Because if someone else put you in that prison, you'd need them to let you out. You'd be waiting on her to give you closure.
Waiting on an apology that might never come. Waiting on answers to questions that might never get answered.
But if YOU built it, you hold the key. You can walk out whenever you decide to.
The prison is made of the stories you keep telling yourself.
“I'm not good enough. I'll never find someone like her again. I don't know who I am without her. I wasted the best years of my life.”
Those stories feel true. I know they do. I told myself every single damn one of them.
But they're not facts. They're thoughts. And thoughts can be changed.
And when you understand your thoughts lead to your beliefs, your beliefs lead to your actions, and your actions lead to your results, you realize it all starts with your thoughts.
The moment I stopped waiting for her to give me closure and started giving myself closure, everything shifted.
I stopped needing answers from her. I stopped checking her social media. I stopped replaying conversations looking for the moment it all went wrong.
I decided the story was over and I was the one writing the next chapter.
That's the key, and it's been in your pocket this whole time.
Let me ask you something.
How many chances have you not taken because you were afraid of what might happen?
How many women have you not approached because you were afraid of rejection?
How many opportunities have you let pass because stepping into the unknown felt too uncomfortable?
I was the same way. Fear ran my life for a long time without me even realizing it.
Fear of the truth kept me in a marriage that was already over for a year longer than it should have been.
Fear of rejection kept me from approaching women I was attracted to.
Fear of failure kept me from taking chances on things I actually wanted.
What I learned about fear is this.
It doesn't go away by avoiding the thing you're afraid of. It actually gets bigger when you do that because the more you avoid it, the more power you give it.
The only way through fear is facing it head on.
After my divorce I had to learn how to date again from scratch. I was out of the game for almost a decade.
I didn't know how dating apps worked. I didn't know how to cold approach women. I got rejected plenty of times in the beginning.
But every rejection made me less afraid of the next one. Every uncomfortable conversation made the next one easier.
Every time I did the thing I was afraid of and survived it, the fear got a little smaller. Plus I learned and improved from each interaction.
After hundreds of date, I got it down to a science.
You're going to feel uncomfortable. You're going to feel awkward. You're going to get rejected and it's going to sting.
Do it anyway.
The life you want is on the other side of the fear you keep avoiding. The comfort zone is where dreams go to die. Growth only happens in the unknown.
Release your attachment to the outcome. Stop needing things to go a certain way. Approach the girl, take the chance, try the thing, and let whatever happens happen.
With the right mindset, you never lose. You either win or you learn.

This one might be the most important shift in this entire guide.
And it's the one that took me the longest to truly understand.
We've been sold a lie our whole lives. Movies, TV shows, love songs, all of it tells us that the right thing to do is make her your everything.
Put her first. Center your whole world around her.
That's what love looks like, right?
Wrong.
I made my ex-wife the center of my world. "Happy wife happy life" is terrible advice.
My whole identity was wrapped up in being her husband. My schedule, my goals, my energy, all of it revolved around her and what she needed.
And you know what happened?
She lost respect and attraction for me after almost 10 years together.
Because a man with no purpose of his own, a man who makes a woman his whole world, is not an attractive man.
It doesn't matter how much he loves her. She does not want to be on a pedestal.
Women don't want to be your purpose. They want to be with a man who HAS a purpose.
Think about it this way. What made you attractive to her in the first place?
You were probably driven. You had things going on. You had your own life, goals, career path, and your own energy. She was drawn to that.
Then somewhere along the way you made her the main thing and all of that faded into the background.
Your purpose, whatever that is for you, your career, your business, your fitness, your passions; that is the foundation everything else is built on.
It's the roots of the tree. When the roots are strong the tree stands through any storm.
When you lose your purpose and make a woman your roots of the tree, one gust of wind and the whole thing falls over.
Right now, in the middle of this pain, is actually the perfect time to reconnect with who you are and what you're here to do.
Not for her. Not to make her regret leaving. For YOU.
When you're locked into your purpose, the right woman will be attracted to that energy, and you'll never lose yourself in a relationship again.
A woman doesn’t want to be the most important thing in your life. She wants to be the most important person. There’s a difference.
The last shift is the one that ties everything together.
And it's the one I see guys struggle with the most, even months and sometimes years after a breakup.
Dwelling. Ruminating. Replaying.
The 3am thoughts. The nightmares. Checking her social media. Wondering what she's doing, who she's with, whether she misses you.
Replaying the good times and trying to figure out where it all went wrong.
I did all of it. Every single one.
And here's what I know now that I wish someone had told me then.
There are no answers back there. Only more pain.
The closure you're looking for doesn't live in the past. It doesn't live in her either. She can't give it to you even if she wanted to.
The only place closure actually exists is inside you, and you access it by deciding the chapter is over and choosing to move forward.
You can reflect on the past to learn from it, which is different than ruminating, dwelling and replaying. But most don't know how to do that.
Your future is waiting for you. A better version of your life, better relationships, better women, a stronger body, a clearer mind, all of it is ahead of you, brother.
But you can't see any of it if you're spending all your energy looking backwards.
Plus you’re gonna hurt your damn neck looking behind you so much. You're not an owl.
This doesn't mean pretend it didn't happen. It doesn't mean suppress the pain or skip the grieving process.
Feel it. Process it. Let it move through you.
And then let it go.
Focusing on the past prevents building the future because it restricts progress and traps you in yesterday's limitations.
The man you're capable of becoming is waiting on the other side of the decision to stop looking back.
What's behind you already happened. What's ahead of you hasn't yet. Choose wisely where you put your energy.
Next time you’re stuck on the past, repeat these words:
“The past is only important as it relates to the present and the future, and any mistakes in my past have been for the purpose of helping me create a bountiful future.”
If you've made it this far, I want you to know something.
The fact that you're here, reading this, looking for answers and trying to figure out how to move forward, that already puts you ahead of most guys who just stay stuck and bitter and never do anything about it.
These 6 shifts are where it starts. They're what changed everything for me and they're what I've watched change everything for the men I've coached.
But I want to be super clear with you about something.
Reading this is a start. Understanding these concepts is a start.
But understanding something and actually living it are two very different things. Knowledge is nothing without application.
I know this because I lived it. I went through every single one of these shifts myself.
I figured it out, I did the work, and then I made it my mission to help other men do the same.
What I've learned from coaching hundreds of guys through this over the years is this:
The ones who move the fastest are never the ones doing it alone.
There is something about being around other men who refuse to stay stuck that makes it almost impossible to stay stuck yourself.
That's exactly what I built. A private brotherhood of men who are done being defined by their past and are ready to rebuild into the man they were always supposed to be.
A step by step system with real accountability, and someone who has actually lived this walking alongside you through it.
If that sounds like something you need right now, book a free strategy call with me below.
No pressure. We just talk, figure out where you are and where you want to be, and see if working together inside my coaching community makes sense for you.
Either way, I hope this guide gave you something real today.
You're not alone in this, and the best is still ahead of you.
Every man has two lives. The second one begins when he realizes he only has one 👊
